Traveling to local Pow Wows on the Navajo Reservation,
Randall Beaver, Farrell Nez and Jamie Bedonie originally started Diné
Nation Jrz in 1994. The name comes from the original group, Dine Nation
from Tuba City, Az. Diné Nation Jrz currently consists of 12
singers who come from Tuba City, Red Lake, Cameron and Grey Mountain.
Each member adds their own distinct personality which forms the group¹s
inner strength and effort to work together to travel to different places
throughout the Southwest, Midwest and north to Canada. Diné Nation Jrz
are still learning about their role as a drum group and are discovering
the best ways to set an example to young people. The group will continue
its travels, meeting new people and keeping in contact with frinds and
relations. Like brothers, each singer teaches the other the meaning
of respect regarding culture, traditions, elders, and prevention of
alcohol and drug abuse. Being able to laugh with each other also keeps
the group together. Most songs that Diné Nation Jrz sing use the Navajo
language. The songs are written by Anthony Betoney, Jamie Bedonie, Farrell
Nez, Orlando Dugi, and Randall Beaver. Other songs are given to the
Diné Nation Jrz from friends who they have met from their travels. Diné
Nation Jrz would like to thank their families, friends, relatives and
elders.
