Calvin Begay is from Burnt Corn on the Din¢ Nation
in Arizona. His maternal clan is ma¶deesh giizhn¶ (Coyote Pass People),
his paternal clan is h¡sh kham h¡ zhºnii (Yucca Plant People). His family
was one of the first on the central part of the reservation to be involved
with the Native American Church and the use of Peyote. Calvin was brought
up this way and he looks at life with appreciation of the knowledge and
wisdom of his Elders. He believes that through prayers he has been able
to survive some of the harder times in life. He prays that the songs on
this recording will enable, heal and benefit those in need and those looking
for salvation in Jesus Christ. Calvin Begay has been inspiring other recording
artists with his songs. On this album he presents 16 original compositions. |
